Cheating On The HCG Diet

There is not a day that goes by that someone doesn’t ask about the consequences of cheating while on the HCG Diet. My Question to you:

Does Cheating Work On Any Diet?

No!  Cheating on the HCG Diet is the same as cheating on any diet, the more you do it the more likely that it won’t work, it’s a costly mistake that can cause your weight loss to stall for several days and can ultimately lead to FAILURE.

With that said, there are very few people that make it through the HCG Diet perfectly without at least one mishap.  Learning to eat healthy is a work in progress and just like any skill, it takes time to master.

Lets face it; we are often our own worst enemy.  It’s easy to sabotage yourself by storing the wrong food in the house or forgetting to plan your meals and end up eating bad food in desperation.

You may feel that you “deserve it” because you stuck to the diet all week.  Or maybe you “deserve it” because you had a bad day.

The key, of course, is to plan ahead, keep healthy food around you at all times, stay committed and keep the end goal in mind.

What is your Purpose?  Why are you doing this?

Are you sick of being overweight?  Are you tired of buying clothes that look adorable in the store window but quite a bit different in size 20? Do you want this summer to be the one that you feel comfortable in your swimming suit?  Are you just about ready to get married and want to have the body that you’ve always dreamed about?

Whatever your purpose… keep it “Top of Mind”.  Think of how you’ll feel when you achieve that goal.  Plan a way to reward yourself (something that is non-food related).

Most importantly, if you happen to “Slip-up” then face your mistake.  Try and understand the circumstances that caused it to happen and strategize of ways to prevent it from happening again.  The worst thing you can do is to blame it on the diet, the product or your individual circumstance.  Don’t make excuses!

After HCG, will I keep the weight off?

People often ask me, “Once I complete the diet, will I be able to keep the weight off?” The answer is simple.  Yes!  You can keep the weight off  after following all the phases of the diet.  You must learn though, that you should keep eating a well balanced diet, remembering to keep your sugar intake down and eat sensible starches.  Take the lessons you have learned throughout your HCG journey and carry them with you for life.  Your journey doesn’t end when you stop taking the drops or add sugars and starches back into your diet.  Bob Moawad said, “The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own.  No apologies or excuses.  No one to lean on, rely on, or blame.  The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.  This is the day your life really begins.”  From now and forever let may we all learn the power of self-control.

How Long Should I Be On The HCG Diet Plan?

To achieve rapid and lasting weight loss results with the HCG Diet, you must follow all phases of the HCG Diet
plan. With so many different companies offereing so many different plans, you may have heard different lengths of time for each phase.

Phase 1 is the “loading” phase and is only 2 days long. Immediately following phase 1 you will begin the very low calorie diet (VLCD) portion of the diet, called phase 2. A minimum of 21 days is recommended in phase 2 of the HCG program as this is the amount of time that it takes to reset your metabolism to function at a higher level. Depending on your weight loss goals you can then choose to move onto phase 3 of the program or you can stay on phase 2 for UP TO 40 days. We do not recommend going longer then 40 days because your body needs additional nutrients that it isn’t receiving on the VLCD. Upon completion of phase 2, you stop taking the drops, and begin the 3 weeks of maintennce called phase 3. The goal of this phase is to create a new weight set point that you body can easily maintain. Following that is phase 4 – or lifestyle. This is the time to begin eating a healthy regular diet while maintaining the good habits that you learned while on the program.

However, someone who begins the diet with only 10-12 pounds to lose may reach thier goal before the 21 days required for phase 2. In a case like this, you still want to be on the drops for the minimum 21 days, so you will need to keep taking your drops, and start  increasing your calories while sticking with the approved foods until you are maintaining your weight, not gaining or losing.  It is a balancing act, but a very imporatant one. Moving on before you hit 21 days can lead to yo-yo dieting. Once you hit the 21 days, you are fine to move into P3.

Average Weight Loss On The Liquid HCG Diet

When you first begin researching the HCG diet you will often see statements like, “I lost 2 pounds per day on the HCG Diet” or ” I dropped 3 pant sizes in just 3 weeks”. These statements can be inspiring, but what kind of results can you actually expect?

It is important to know that everyones body is different and will always have different results. 2 people eating the exact same things can often have vastly different results on the program. There are many factors that influence your weight loss results on the HCG diet. These can include:

  • Sex: Because of a higher metabolism and more muscle mass, men will generally lose weight a little faster then women. They also tend to lose on a down hill slide (continuously) where as women lose in stair steps (lose one day then maintain the following).
  • Age: A younger person will generally have a higher metabolism, which will often speed up weight loss.
  • Muscle: The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn.
  • Medical Conditions: Dieters that have pre-existing conditions such as hypothyroidism, may not see the same results as someone with a healthy endocrine (hormone) system.
  • Medications: Any medication that has “weight gain” as a side effect can slow down weight loss while on the HCG Diet.

Will I Lose Weight On A VLCD Without HCG?

When I was first introduced to the HCG diet, all I heard was “Very Low Calorie Diet” (VLCD) and in that very instant, every RED-FLAG that I’ve ever known, stood straight up. After all, it’s common knowledge that low calorie diets without HCG are disastrous for anyone hoping to increase their metabolism.
