Eating ON Protocol

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

We often get asked about the consequences of cheating while on HCG. Well, there are consequences to cheating on any diet – the more you do it the more likely it won’t work, its a costly mistake that can cause your weight loss to stall for several days.  For the best results with the protocol stick to my list of approved foods (found in “Succeeding with HCG” which is sent out with each kit).  The foods on the approved food list were chosen not only for their caloric value, but nutritional as well.  In essence, you are getting the biggest bang for your buck.  (more…)

Importance Of Water On The HCG Diet Plan

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

One of the keys to succeeding on the Liquid HCG Diet plan is… Water! Water! Water! We recommend drinking a minimum of 64 ounces daily but you should try to consume half your body weight in ounces each day. That means a 180 pound person would drink 90 ounces of water. This can be hard to adjust to when beginning the Liquid HCG Diet.
A great way to add a little flavor and variety is to add lemons. Lemons can assist in flushing out retained water, can wake up a sluggish digestive system, and even help brighten your skin. Click here to read more about these Little Yellow Gems.

Another great tool to help prevent and ease water retention is ORGANIC apple cider vinegar (ACV). ACV can help boost your metabolism and will ease water retention in your system. However, you don’t want to use just any kind of ACV. It must be organic and still contain the “mother” which is where the healing properties are – it can show up inside the bottle as little globs floating around. Shake it up before each use.

Water can mean the difference between success and failure on the Liquid HCG Diet plan. Carry a bottle with you throughout the day and keep re-filling it. After you create this new healthy habit, you will be amazed at how different you will feel. If you have further questions, give the health coaches a call at 800-980-7208.

Live, Love, LAUGH!!

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Laughter not only reduces muscle tension and produces happy chemicals in the brain called endorphins, but it actually helps increase the amount of oxygen in the blood AND exercises our hearts.  So it makes sense that laughing would burn more calories too.

According to an article from USA Today, if you laugh for 10-15 minutes a day you can burn up to 50 calories depending on body size and the intensity of the laughter. That means if you laugh for 10-15 minutes daily you could burn enough calories to lose 4 ½ pounds in a year.  Physiology experts say it’s not exactly an effective way to shed extra weight — but the idea is worth a laugh or two.

Burning those extra calories may not seem like a lot to you, but as you know, every little change can make a big difference. Plus laughing can help us feel more positive about life, better about ourselves and ultimately can help us stay motivated to lose those extra pounds.

Today, find something to laugh about and enjoy the benefits of living, loving and LAUGHING!  Here is a quote from Homer Simpson to get you started, “Nobody wins in a butter eating contest!”

Shopping For HCG foods

Monday, July 25th, 2011

Whether you are waiting for your kit to arrive or you’ve already got your Liquid HCG Diet kit, knowing where to shop for your food can feel like a challenge.  If you do not know where you can go to get the specific groceries that you are allowed to have on the Liquid HCG diet, you will obviously be unprepared for the 500 calorie portion of the diet. And walking into the wrong store (like a bakery or deli) trying to find one thing but being tempted by dozens of other things can throw you off track both mentally and physically.

Shopping for groceries

All-natural grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Alfalfas, Vitamin Cottage, Trader Joe’s and even local farmers’ markets are all great options for stores that offer fresh produce,  low fat, and low sugar items without also selling the fatty processed foods that really ought to be avoided all together.

However, most of your food needs can be found in your local grocery store. One thing to keep in mind is to shop the perimeter of the store. In most cases fresh produce, and meats are kept along the outside of the store and the processed and packaged foods are found in the middle of the store.  Also, more and more superstores like Wal-Mart, and Target are starting to expand their line of organic products. Organic foods are great for you, as they have less toxins and pesticides in them, but they aren’t required.

Shopping for a place to eat out

Going out to eat on the 500 calorie diet is possible, though it is not recommend. If you do a little planning and research, you may be able to find a restaurant that serves organic and kosher meals as well as international cuisine that can also be made from organic materials and oil/fat free cooking methods. Don’t be afraid to ask for special food preparation – most restaurants are tolerant of these requests.

When shopping on the Liquid HCG diet, restraint and willpower will make all the difference. In reality, there are very few stores that you can shop at and not be able to find the food choices that you are allowed to have. Knowledge is a huge key to success. Read through the booklet and learn why you can have each food and why others are not allowed. And remember, in no time at all your biggest worry will be which store to shop at for that new pair of jeans!

Track and Measure Your Food On HCG

Monday, July 11th, 2011

While following phase 2 of the Liquid HCG Diet it is important to measure your food and keep track of your calories. In our book, Succeeding With HCG, that you receive when you order we give you the approximate calorie count in each of the approved foods, but we are often asked how to measure each food. So here is a basic rundown:

  • Protein -  There are 2 servings of protein, each weighing 3.5 ounces or 100 grams and should be measured raw.
  • Fruits - One serving is one whole fruit with the exception of cherries, which are measured by the cup and 2 plums count as one serving.
  • Vegetables – The following are measured in whole sizes: 1 medium cucumber, 1 medium green or red pepper, tomato, and one medium zucchini; the rest of the veggies are measured by cup.

If you find it difficult to measure your vegetables in cups, then you can look up the grams online and use a weight instead. For example, 1 cup of broccoli weighs approximately 71 grams.

One of the things that we have often heard has maximized weight loss in HCG dieters is keeping a food journal. Simply writing down what you eat throughout the day can help you stay on track and help you avoid cheating. There are also websites that offer calorie counting and tracking, such as myfitnesspal.com. You will see variances from each source so remember that the most important thing is to pick one source and use it for all foods while on the program.

Don’t Skip Phase 1

Monday, June 27th, 2011

The first two days of the Liquid HCG Diet are called the “load days”. During these days you are encouraged to eat high fat foods in whatever quantity that you want. Along with eating high fat foods you should also eat the foods that you normally crave, since you won’t be able to eat them for a while. There are 2 reasons that this phase should not be skipped:

  • During the loading phase, as you take the HCG drops, you are carrying the HCG hormone into your fat cells and preparing them to mobilize for energy consumption.
  • Phase 1 prepares your body for the VLCD (very low calorie diet) and make the first week of phase 2 much easier by easing hunger, cravings, and symptoms of with drawl like headaches and fatigue.

While the loading days are some people’s favorite phase, it can be tempting to forego them, for fear of gaining weight. It’s normal to gain a few pounds in the loading days, but don’t worry, that extra weight will come off within the first few days of phase 2.

The loading days are a very important part of the Liquid HCG Diet, so enjoy them.  Remember that you can eat whatever foods you want but you should focus on high healthy fat foods such as olive oil, avocados, nuts, etc.

When you get past the initial loading days, you will enter phase 2 of the Liquid HCG Diet, during which you will have 500 – 530 calories per day, from the approved foods that are listed in our book. Take a look at the recipes on our site for over 100 great recipes that will stimulate your taste buds so you will enjoy your meals and watch as the scales continues to drop down each day when you weigh yourself.

Spices That HELP Dieters

Monday, June 13th, 2011

A resent study shows that for people who don’t normally consume cayenne pepper, adding it to foods while dieting can help increase the rate your body burns calories.  Cayenne pepper can stimulate your metabolism up to 20% and helps clean fat out of your arteries.  A popular drink while on Liquid HCG Diet is the California Kicker (which incorporates cayenne pepper).

There are other spices that can help your body burn calories and process foods and eliminate waste.  The following can help:

  • Cinnamon – A dash of cinnamon here and there can help keep your blood sugar balanced (more…)

Conquer Cravings While on Liquid HCG

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

“Self-respect is the fruit of discipline; the sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.”  – Abraham J Heschel

Learning to say no to yourself, or maybe even, not right now, takes discipline and is sometimes easier said than done.  This list of tips can help you conquer your cravings while on the Liquid HCG Diet protocol.

  • The first thing to do when you have a craving come on, is reach for a tall glass of water and try to find something different to occupy your mind.
