Exercise On The Liquid HCG Diet

One of the biggest drawbacks to people considering the HCG diet is that exercise is not normally recommended or encouraged. In fact, on a regular HCG protocol day you should NOT do more then 20-30 minutes of light cardio, i.e. walking. But regular exercise is extremely important to your health.  This should be obvious but getting a moderate amount of exercise helps boost our metabolism and enables weight loss for a multitude of different reasons. So why isn’t it normally recommended while on the HCG Diet?

Doing any sort of intense workout while on such a low calorie diet will cause your body to enter starvation mode which generally means that it will go for the easiest energy source which is  lean muscle. Going into starvation will also eventually slow your metabolism and lead to a weight gain. But we don’t want to give up these benefits of exercise:

  1. Physical exercise in and of itself burns calories and fat, helping us to lose weight.
  2. It increases our total metabolic rate as metabolism increases during physical activities.  Regular exercise means a higher total energy expenditure.
  3. By losing stored fat and increasing muscle tissue, our Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) also increases.  Fat deposits slow down our BMR.  Losing that fat will only raise it, as will happen when we gain muscle mass.
  4. The more exercise we do each day, the more energy we have for doing other activities.

The Liquid HCG Active plan is possible because we have enriched our drops with Amino Acids as well as glandular support to supply the body with the basic nutrients needed while working out on a VLCD. When following any HCG program we advise taking a good daily multi-vitamin (sugar free if possible) to supply the body with basic daily nutrients. We also recommend a good B-12 (sublingual form will absorb quicker) to help keep energy levels up. Liquid HCG Diet ACTIVE Program

Because participants will not feel excess hunger and generally have good energy levels, many HCG dieters want to, and often try, working out while on an HCG diet. However, doing intense or excessive workouts during phase 2 of the program will definitely put your body into starvation mode, stripping the muscles of protein and amino acids. Besides being unhealthy, it will ultimately slow your weight loss and put you at risk of gaining the weight back.

Although we normally only recommend you do NO MORE than 20-30 minutes of light cardio (like a light walk) while on the very low calorie portion of the diet, we do have the Active Program that allows for exercise during phase 2 for those who want to work out. Doing more than the 20-30 minutes without the Active Program is detrimental both to your health and your weight loss. However, our formulation of HCG that is enriched with Glandular support AND multiple Amino Acids allows our customers to exercise while on the program.  Using an un-enhanced or “regular” HCG does not give your body the support it needs to safely implement an exercise program while on Phase 2.

We aren’t saying that it is now ok to run a marathon or spend hours sweating in the gym. There are guidelines that have to be followed in order to make this safe and effective for you.  The Liquid HCG ACTIVE program keeps the same approved foods but increases protein and calories depending on the length of your workout. You can do a 30, 60, or 90 minute workout that can be a combination of aerobic and weight training, but you MUST keep your heart rate in a target zone.

Working Liquid HCG ACTIVE into your lifestyle

The unique thing with our new Liquid HCG Active protocol is that you don’t have to commit to it on a daily basis.  On days that you are just too busy, you don’t have to follow the Liquid HCG ACTIVE program, you can do a normal 500-530 calorie phase 2 day.  So if you have 3 days a week that you want to work out for 30, 60 or even 90 minutes, follow the Liquid HCG ACTIVE program.  The other 4 days of the week, stick to your standard Liquid HCG Diet phase 2 protocol.  It really is designed with everyone in mind.  Just my “humble” opinion. :) (more…)

Liquid HCG ACTIVE: Protein Powder

While following the Liquid HCG ACTIVE program you will eat the same approved foods as a normal phase 2 day (with increased calories) however, we do add protein powder after a workout. I am sure you have frequently heard how it is important to eat protein after a good workout. The reason for this is because as you exercise, you tend to create small tears in your muscles, commonly referred to as mirco-tears. Once you have finished a workout, these muscles need to heal and protein is a great way to do that. We recommend it in the form of a protein shake because the protein in a shake reaches your muscles much faster (approximately 30 minutes) than protein in the form of a meal. (more…)

Exercise Is Important; Keep It Safe On HCG

Regular exercise is extremely important to your health for a multitude of reasons. These can include weight loss, heart health, increased energy, higher metabolism, and so much more. Even your skin is improved with regular exercise. However, when following a regular HCG diet plan you are not allowed to do more then 20-30 minutes of light cardio each day, which is a great start! But if you want to do more, you need to follow the Liquid HCG ACTIVE protocol.
The amazing thing about the Liquid HCG ACTIVE protocol is that everyone can fit it into their lifestyle. If you choose to exercise twice per week then on those 2 days you would follow ACTIVE and the regular plan on the rest of the days that week.
On the ACTIVE days you will increase your calories in a specific way to give your body the nutrients it needs. One of the best ways to supply protein to the muscles after a workout is by using protein powders.
This program is not a free pass to run a marathon while on HCG. There are restrictions including heart rate zones, guidelines for resistance training, and time limits. We also recommend additional supplements to support your body through the workout. It is important to follow the protocol and not push your body too far. For example – don’t do the Insanity workouts or the p90x workouts while on HCG. They are too strenuous and can push your body into starvation mode.
