To achieve rapid and lasting weight loss results with the HCG Diet, you must follow all phases of the HCG Diet
plan. With so many different companies offereing so many different plans, you may have heard different lengths of time for each phase.
Phase 1 is the “loading” phase and is only 2 days long. Immediately following phase 1 you will begin the very low calorie diet (VLCD) portion of the diet, called phase 2. A minimum of 21 days is recommended in phase 2 of the HCG program as this is the amount of time that it takes to reset your metabolism to function at a higher level. Depending on your weight loss goals you can then choose to move onto phase 3 of the program or you can stay on phase 2 for UP TO 40 days. We do not recommend going longer then 40 days because your body needs additional nutrients that it isn’t receiving on the VLCD. Upon completion of phase 2, you stop taking the drops, and begin the 3 weeks of maintennce called phase 3. The goal of this phase is to create a new weight set point that you body can easily maintain. Following that is phase 4 – or lifestyle. This is the time to begin eating a healthy regular diet while maintaining the good habits that you learned while on the program.
However, someone who begins the diet with only 10-12 pounds to lose may reach thier goal before the 21 days required for phase 2. In a case like this, you still want to be on the drops for the minimum 21 days, so you will need to keep taking your drops, and start increasing your calories while sticking with the approved foods until you are maintaining your weight, not gaining or losing. It is a balancing act, but a very imporatant one. Moving on before you hit 21 days can lead to yo-yo dieting. Once you hit the 21 days, you are fine to move into P3.
